ABOUT ACTA

The Assam College Teachers’ Association was founded in 1949 at its inaugural Nowgong College conference. From the time of its inception in 1949 to the year 2022, sixty seven annual conferences were held at different places of Assam. By extending its orbit from Dhuburi to Sadia, covering the entire Barak and Brahmaputra valley, the association has been able to evolve as a strong intellectual platform. As the orbit of the association extended, the platform came to be conveniently subdivided to district wise zones from year 2003-2004 for its smooth functioning.
In its long history, the association owes a lot to the contribution of renowned educationists from Jorhat District. Among whom were Prof. Jatindranath Goswami, Mukul Chaliha, Rohini Kumar Baruah, Dr. Bijoy Ch. Sharma (J.B. College) who have taken responsibility as president and secretary at various times. Their dedicated and selfless service has strengthened the association and has made the Jorhat zone proud. For the years 1956, 1962, 1977, 1985 and 1999, the annual conference of the Association was held in Jorhat.

I, on behalf of ACTA Jorhat zone, Assam welcome you all to the zonal website. ACTA Jorhat zone was established in the year 1949. Since then it is serving as an intellectual platform for the teachers of the colleges under this zone. At present, there are 16 colleges under this zone with more than 450 teacher members. I sincerely believe that this zonal website will serve even better in showcasing the various activities undertaken by different Teacher's Units under this zone. Every year this zone undertakes different programs and publications as well for the upliftment of the teaching fraternity. I hope Jorhat zone will continue its activities and this zonal website will showcase and will act as repository for these activities. Long Live ACTA. Long Live ACTA Jorhat Zone.
